Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Scott Burton could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in November 2014 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Art Day Auction auction, the work Sandstone Chair I & Ii changed hands for USD 50,000.00 (€ 40,199.39) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. Admittedly, works by Scott Burton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pair of Granite Chairs in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 156,500.00 (€ 224,744.30).
