This artwork by Scott Burton achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May 2014. In the Contemporary Art Day Auction auction, the work Two Part Bench: A Pair sold for USD 293,000.00 (€ 214,809.38) - well above the upper estimate of USD 150,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Scott Burton; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Pair of Granite Chairs sold at auction in October 2007 with the realized price of GBP 156,500.00 (€ 224,744.30).
