In March 2011 Christies in New York held the auction First Open Post-War and Contemporary Art, which included the work Study for New Stuyvesant High School Under Construction by Rackstraw Downes. The result of USD 20,000.00 (€ 14,101.39) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Rackstraw Downes have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Approach To The Holland Tunnel With 75 Varick in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 87,500.00 (€ 82,718.85).

Im März 2011 führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open Post-War and Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study for New Stuyvesant High School Under Construction von Rackstraw Downes zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 20.000,00 (€ 14.101,39) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Rackstraw Downes auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Approach To The Holland Tunnel With 75 Varick im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 87.500,00 (€ 82.718,85).
