In May 2014 Christies in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Atlantic Avenue at the Entrance to the Van Wyck Expressway by Rackstraw Downes. The »bidding war« ended at USD 40,000.00 (€ 29,325.51), 33% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Rackstraw Downes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Approach To The Holland Tunnel With 75 Varick, which sold at auction in November 2016 for USD 87,500.00 (€ 82,718.85).

Im Mai 2014 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Atlantic Avenue at the Entrance to the Van Wyck Expressway von Rackstraw Downes zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 40.000,00 (€ 29.325,51) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Rackstraw Downes mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Approach To The Holland Tunnel With 75 Varick beobachtet, die im November 2016 für USD 87.500,00 (€ 82.718,85) versteigert wurde.
