Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Thorndike, Maine by Rackstraw Downes was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2021. Here, the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 16,380.00 (€ 13,948.74). Admittedly, works by Rackstraw Downes have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Approach To The Holland Tunnel With 75 Varick in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 87,500.00 (€ 82,718.85).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Thorndike, Maine von Rackstraw Downes kam im März 2021 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 16.380,00 (€ 13.948,74) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Rackstraw Downes auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Approach To The Holland Tunnel With 75 Varick im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 87.500,00 (€ 82.718,85).
