This artwork by Rackstraw Downes achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in October 2021. In the Two Centuries: American Art auction, the work S-Bend in an Elevated Section of the New Jersey Turnpike sold for USD 69,300.00 (€ 59,989.61) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Rackstraw Downes; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Approach To The Holland Tunnel With 75 Varick sold at auction in November 2016 with the realized price of USD 87,500.00 (€ 82,718.85).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Rackstraw Downes erzielte im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis.
