Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2021 a collector was able to acquire the work Ventilation Tower Under Renovation #1, Bermuda High by Rackstraw Downes for USD 8,750.00 (€ 7,175.66). This price was achieved in the auction Fields of Vision: The Private Collection of Artists Wolf Kahn and Emily Mason Live Sale at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rackstraw Downes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Approach To The Holland Tunnel With 75 Varick in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 87,500.00 (€ 82,718.85).
