Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work True Progress, Fort Davis, Texas by Rackstraw Downes for USD 12,000.00 (€ 10,589.48). This price was achieved in the auction American Art Online at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Rackstraw Downes have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Approach To The Holland Tunnel With 75 Varick in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 87,500.00 (€ 82,718.85).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Oktober 2018 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit True Progress, Fort Davis, Texas von Rackstraw Downes für USD 12.000,00 (€ 10.589,48) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion American Art Online bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Rackstraw Downes auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Approach To The Holland Tunnel With 75 Varick im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 87.500,00 (€ 82.718,85).
