Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Polly Apfelbaum achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in October 2021. In the Editions & Works on Paper auction, the work Color Field Notes (Purple) sold for USD 6,300.00 (€ 5,453.60) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Polly Apfelbaum; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Rubbing Colours sold at auction in December 2016 with the realized price of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 10,230.17).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Polly Apfelbaum erzielte im Oktober 2021 bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Editions & Works on Paper wurde die Arbeit Color Field Notes (Purple) für USD 6.300,00 (€ 5.453,60) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 3.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Polly Apfelbaum; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Rubbing Colours im Dezember 2016 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 8.750,00 (€ 10.230,17).
