This artwork by Edward Kienholz achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May last year. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Marlena Deepdich or a Portable Success Story sold for USD 63,000.00 (€ 58,708.41) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Kienholz - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Future as an Afterthought, which sold at auction in May 2003 for USD 141,900.00 (€ 120,601.73).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Edward Kienholz erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Marlena Deepdich or a Portable Success Story für USD 63.000,00 (€ 58.708,41) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Edward Kienholz mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Future as an Afterthought beobachtet, die im Mai 2003 für USD 141.900,00 (€ 120.601,73) versteigert wurde.
