This artwork by Edward Kienholz achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September last year. In the Post-War to Present auction, the work Jane Doe sold for USD 94,500.00 (€ 96,596.14) - well above the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Edward Kienholz; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Future as an Afterthought sold at auction in May 2003 with the realized price of USD 141,900.00 (€ 120,601.73).
