Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Handheld Bird by Charles Ray was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2014. The price achieved of USD 50,000.00 (€ 36,656.89) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Ray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Aluminum Girl in May 2012 with an auction result of USD 4,282,500.00 (€ 3,463,684.89).

Die Arbeit Handheld Bird von Charles Ray kam im Mai 2014 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 36.656,89) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Ray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Aluminum Girl im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.282.500,00 (€ 3.463.684,89).
