Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Fagan by Steven Shearer was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 88,200.00 (€ 72,330.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Steven Shearer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hash, which sold at auction in October 2015 for GBP 106,250.00 (€ 148,617.21).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Fagan von Steven Shearer kam im Mai 2021 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 88.200,00 (€ 72.330,65) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Steven Shearer mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Hash beobachtet, die im Oktober 2015 für GBP 106.250,00 (€ 148.617,21) versteigert wurde.
