Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Scott Burton achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May 2008. In the Contemporary Art Day Auction auction, the work Low Piece sold for USD 133,000.00 (€ 85,475.58) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Scott Burton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Pair of Granite Chairs, which sold at auction in October 2007 for GBP 156,500.00 (€ 224,744.30).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Scott Burton erzielte im Mai 2008 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction wurde die Arbeit Low Piece für USD 133.000,00 (€ 85.475,58) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 60.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Scott Burton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Pair of Granite Chairs beobachtet, die im Oktober 2007 für GBP 156.500,00 (€ 224.744,30) versteigert wurde.
