Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled (S.669, Freestanding Tied-Wire, Closed Center, Six-Branched Tree Form) by Ruth Asawa was sold in the Contemporary Curated auction at Sothebys in New York in October 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 300,000.00 – 400,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 302,400.00 (€ 259,637.67) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ruth Asawa achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (S.387, Hanging Three Separate Layers of Three-Lobed Forms) in November 2019 with an auction result of USD 4,095,000.00 (€ 3,716,308.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Untitled (S.669, Freestanding Tied-Wire, Closed Center, Six-Branched Tree Form) von Ruth Asawa wurde im Oktober 2020 in der Auktion Contemporary Curated bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 300.000,00 – 400.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 302.400,00 (€ 259.637,67) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ruth Asawa erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (S.387, Hanging Three Separate Layers of Three-Lobed Forms) im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.095.000,00 (€ 3.716.308,19).
