Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Richard Stankiewicz could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in November 2016 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Art Day Auction auction, the work The Golden Bird Is Often Sad changed hands for USD 56,250.00 (€ 53,176.40) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Richard Stankiewicz - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Playful Bathers, which sold at auction in May 2012 for USD 134,500.00 (€ 108,783.57).
