Auction result well in line with expectations
In October last year Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work First Light by James Turrell. It changed hands for a price of USD 119,700.00 (€ 120,495.27) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Turrell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Orca, Blue-Red, which sold at auction in October 2020 for GBP 302,400.00 (€ 335,789.40).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Editions & Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit First Light von James Turrell zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 119.700,00 (€ 120.495,27) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von James Turrell mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Orca, Blue-Red beobachtet, die im Oktober 2020 für GBP 302.400,00 (€ 335.789,40) versteigert wurde.
