This artwork by James Turrell achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in February this year. In the Post War & Contemporary Art auction, the work The Crater, Before, 1982 sold for USD 10,200.00 (€ 9,620.83) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Turrell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Orca, Blue-Red in October 2020 with an auction result of GBP 302,400.00 (€ 335,789.40).

Dieses Kunstwerk von James Turrell erzielte im Februar diesen Jahres bei Bonhams einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post War & Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit The Crater, Before, 1982 für USD 10.200,00 (€ 9.620,83) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 5.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Turrell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Orca, Blue-Red im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 302.400,00 (€ 335.789,40).
