In April 2021 Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work An Affair in the Islands, from Six Lithographs (L.P. p. 179, pl. 82, A. & B. 19F) by H. C. Westermann. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,520.00 (€ 2,094.76), 68% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by H. C. Westermann achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rosebud in May 2016 with an auction result of USD 137,000.00 (€ 123,035.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 68 % übertroffen
Im April 2021 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Editions & Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit An Affair in the Islands, from Six Lithographs (L.P. p. 179, pl. 82, A. & B. 19F) von H. C. Westermann zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 2.520,00 (€ 2.094,76) und damit 68% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von H. C. Westermann erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Rosebud im Mai 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 137.000,00 (€ 123.035,47).
