Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Fiancée Folle Mariée by Alina Szapocznikow was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 187,500.00 (€ 166,874.33). Admittedly, works by Alina Szapocznikow have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portret Wielokrotny (Dwukrotny) [Multiple Portrait (Double)|AID1113401] in May this year with an auction result of USD 907,200.00 (€ 851,511.17).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Fiancée Folle Mariée von Alina Szapocznikow im Mai 2017 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 187.500,00 (€ 166.874,33) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alina Szapocznikow auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portret Wielokrotny (Dwukrotny) [Multiple Portrait (Double)|AID1113401] im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 907.200,00 (€ 851.511,17).
