In October this year Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work Sailing by William Zorach. The »bidding war« ended at USD 6,985.00 (€ 6,609.58), 40% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Zorach achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'Spirit of the Dance' in December 2004 with an auction result of USD 365,900.00 (€ 270,276.26).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 40 % übertroffen
Im Oktober diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Editions & Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sailing von William Zorach zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 6.985,00 (€ 6.609,58) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Zorach erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit 'Spirit of the Dance' im Dezember 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 365.900,00 (€ 270.276,26).
