This price was achieved in the auction The Collection of Melva Bucksbaum: Post-War and Contemporary Art, Photographs and Prints at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 1,500.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Wood - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Young Officer, In Red Coat With Blue Collar, Gold Epaulette And White Cross-Belt With Gold Plate, Black Cravat, which sold at auction in July 2005 for GBP 11,400.00 (€ 16,535.59).
