Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection, which included the work Portrait of Sir Robert Hodson (d. 1809) by William Wood. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,800.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 2,016.00 (€ 2,252.05). Admittedly, works by William Wood have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Young Officer, In Red Coat With Blue Collar, Gold Epaulette And White Cross-Belt With Gold Plate, Black Cravat in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 11,400.00 (€ 16,535.59).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Sir Robert Hodson (d. 1809) von William Wood zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 1.800,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 2.016,00 (€ 2.252,05) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Wood auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Young Officer, In Red Coat With Blue Collar, Gold Epaulette And White Cross-Belt With Gold Plate, Black Cravat im Juli 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 11.400,00 (€ 16.535,59).
