Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Ruth Root was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,500.00 (€ 3,209.54). Admittedly, works by Ruth Root have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work without title in December 2016 with an auction result of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 18,998.89).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Ruth Root im September 2019 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.500,00 (€ 3.209,54) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ruth Root auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit ohne Titel im Dezember 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.250,00 (€ 18.998,89).
