This artwork by Ruth Asawa achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in November 2019. In the Contemporary Art Day Auction auction, the work Untitled (S.256, Hanging Tied-Wire, Double-Sided, Open-Center, Six-Branched Form Based On Nature) sold for USD 884,000.00 (€ 802,250.66) - well above the upper estimate of USD 300,000.00. Admittedly, works by Ruth Asawa have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (S.387, Hanging Three Separate Layers of Three-Lobed Forms) in November 2019 with an auction result of USD 4,095,000.00 (€ 3,716,308.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ruth Asawa erzielte im November 2019 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction wurde die Arbeit Untitled (S.256, Hanging Tied-Wire, Double-Sided, Open-Center, Six-Branched Form Based On Nature) für USD 884.000,00 (€ 802.250,66) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 300.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ruth Asawa auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (S.387, Hanging Three Separate Layers of Three-Lobed Forms) im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.095.000,00 (€ 3.716.308,19).
