Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Rodney Graham was auctioned at Phillips in New York in October last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,197.00 (€ 1,204.95). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rodney Graham achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Inverted Drip Painting #47 in October 2018 with an auction result of GBP 150,000.00 (€ 169,153.72).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Rodney Graham im Oktober letzten Jahres bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.197,00 (€ 1.204,95) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Rodney Graham erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Inverted Drip Painting #47 im Oktober 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 150.000,00 (€ 169.153,72).
