This artwork by Ray Johnson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in October 2020. In the Contemporary Curated auction, the work Hero Rose sold for USD 27,720.00 (€ 23,800.12) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ray Johnson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Comb, which sold at auction in March 2021 for GBP 47,500.00 (€ 55,800.26).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Ray Johnson erzielte im Oktober 2020 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Curated wurde die Arbeit Hero Rose für USD 27.720,00 (€ 23.800,12) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Ray Johnson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Comb beobachtet, die im März 2021 für GBP 47.500,00 (€ 55.800,26) versteigert wurde.
