Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Ray Johnson could be acquired at Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts in November this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Dance of Death auction, the work Untitled (Skulls with 1940s Photo) changed hands for USD 2,176.00 (€ 1,994.87) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ray Johnson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Comb in March 2021 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 55,800.26).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Ray Johnson konnte im November diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Dance of Death wechselte die Arbeit Untitled (Skulls with 1940s Photo) für USD 2.176,00 (€ 1.994,87) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ray Johnson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Comb im März 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 55.800,26).
