Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Ray Johnson could be acquired at Phillips in New York in September this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the New Now auction, the work Little Sailors changed hands for USD 1,905.00 (€ 1,799.89) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ray Johnson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Comb in March 2021 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 55,800.26).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ray Johnson konnte im September diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion New Now wechselte die Arbeit Little Sailors für USD 1.905,00 (€ 1.799,89) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ray Johnson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Comb im März 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 55.800,26).
