In the Contemporary Curated auction, the work Viva Cuito Cuanavale sold for USD 81,900.00 (€ 70,318.54) - well above the upper estimate of USD 40,000.00. Admittedly, works by Melvin Edwards have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ile Ogun, Planetary, Road to Goma, Alterable [Four Works|AID1113294] in May this year with an auction result of USD 409,500.00 (€ 384,362.68).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Melvin Edwards erzielte im Oktober 2020 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Curated wurde die Arbeit Viva Cuito Cuanavale für USD 81.900,00 (€ 70.318,54) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 40.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Melvin Edwards auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ile Ogun, Planetary, Road to Goma, Alterable [Four Works|AID1113294] im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 409.500,00 (€ 384.362,68).
