Admittedly, works by Melvin Edwards have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ile Ogun, Planetary, Road to Goma, Alterable [Four Works|AID1113294] in May this year with an auction result of USD 409,500.00 (€ 384,362.68).

Die Arbeit Untitled (from Lynch Fragments series) von Melvin Edwards kam im März letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 81.900,00 (€ 73.830,34) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 37%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Melvin Edwards auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ile Ogun, Planetary, Road to Goma, Alterable [Four Works|AID1113294] im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 409.500,00 (€ 384.362,68).
