In October 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Curated, which included this untitled work by Melvin Edwards. The »bidding war« ended at USD 69,300.00 (€ 59,500.30), 73% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Melvin Edwards have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ile Ogun, Planetary, Road to Goma, Alterable [Four Works|AID1113294] in May this year with an auction result of USD 409,500.00 (€ 384,362.68).

Im Oktober 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Curated durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Melvin Edwards zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 69.300,00 (€ 59.500,30) und damit 73% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Melvin Edwards auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ile Ogun, Planetary, Road to Goma, Alterable [Four Works|AID1113294] im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 409.500,00 (€ 384.362,68).
