In March 2010 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art, which included the work Endura by Melvin Edwards. The »bidding war« ended at USD 13,750.00 (€ 10,165.61), 38% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Melvin Edwards achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ile Ogun, Planetary, Road to Goma, Alterable [Four Works|AID1113294] in May this year with an auction result of USD 409,500.00 (€ 384,362.68).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 38 % übertroffen
Im März 2010 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Endura von Melvin Edwards zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 13.750,00 (€ 10.165,61) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Melvin Edwards erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ile Ogun, Planetary, Road to Goma, Alterable [Four Works|AID1113294] im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 409.500,00 (€ 384.362,68).
