Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Crying Portrait Of Wilhelmina As A Renaissance Madonna With Holy Child (After Leonardo) by Francesco Vezzoli was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 106,250.00 (€ 100,596.48) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francesco Vezzoli - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Veruschka, which sold at auction in October 2007 for GBP 156,500.00 (€ 224,744.30).
