Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Veruschuka is Expected to be Here by Francesco Vezzoli was auctioned at Phillips in New York in November 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 25,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 81,900.00 (€ 72,561.35). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francesco Vezzoli - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Veruschka, which sold at auction in October 2007 for GBP 156,500.00 (€ 224,744.30).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Veruschuka is Expected to be Here von Francesco Vezzoli im November 2021 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 25.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 81.900,00 (€ 72.561,35) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Francesco Vezzoli mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Veruschka beobachtet, die im Oktober 2007 für GBP 156.500,00 (€ 224.744,30) versteigert wurde.
