Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Man With No Name by David Ratcliff was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 7,000.00 – 9,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,253.03). Admittedly, works by David Ratcliff have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Abstract Painting (Floor) in February 2007 with an auction result of USD 22,800.00 (€ 17,233.56).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Man With No Name von David Ratcliff im September 2011 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 7.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.375,00 (€ 3.253,03) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von David Ratcliff auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Abstract Painting (Floor) im Februar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 22.800,00 (€ 17.233,56).
