Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Real Summer NJ by David Ratcliff was auctioned at Phillips in London in December 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,624.79). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Ratcliff - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Abstract Painting (Floor), which sold at auction in February 2007 for USD 22,800.00 (€ 17,233.56).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Real Summer NJ von David Ratcliff im Dezember 2012 bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 3.750,00 (€ 4.624,79) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von David Ratcliff mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Abstract Painting (Floor) beobachtet, die im Februar 2007 für USD 22.800,00 (€ 17.233,56) versteigert wurde.
