Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Alma Thomas achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in November 2017. In the Contemporary Art Day Auction auction, the work Sign Of Spring sold for USD 237,500.00 (€ 199,613.38) - well above the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alma Thomas achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Fantastic Sunset in May this year with an auction result of USD 3,922,000.00 (€ 3,681,246.48).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Alma Thomas erzielte im November 2017 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction wurde die Arbeit Sign Of Spring für USD 237.500,00 (€ 199.613,38) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 80.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alma Thomas erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Fantastic Sunset im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.922.000,00 (€ 3.681.246,48).
