Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Sarah Charlesworth achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March 2018. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art auction, the work Toile sold for USD 11,875.00 (€ 9,638.80) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sarah Charlesworth - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Seated Buddha (from 0 + 1), which sold at auction in September 2021 for USD 25,200.00 (€ 21,767.30).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Sarah Charlesworth erzielte im März 2018 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit Toile für USD 11.875,00 (€ 9.638,80) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 5.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Sarah Charlesworth mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Seated Buddha (from 0 + 1) beobachtet, die im September 2021 für USD 25.200,00 (€ 21.767,30) versteigert wurde.
