Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Frequent Flyer by Richmond Burton was auctioned at Phillips in New York in October 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 500.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 313.00 (€ 280.59). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richmond Burton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Eyes In The Heat in July 2019 with an auction result of USD 18,750.00 (€ 16,846.36).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Frequent Flyer von Richmond Burton im Oktober 2019 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 500,00 – 800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 313,00 (€ 280,59) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Richmond Burton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Eyes In The Heat im Juli 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 18.750,00 (€ 16.846,36).
