Auction result well in line with expectations

In September this year Christies in London held the auction Post-War to Present, which included the work DEC. 11, 1975, from Today, 1966-2013 by On Kawara. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 600,000.00 – 800,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 604,800.00 (€ 571,428.57) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by On Kawara have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (Decade) in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 4,175,000.00 (€ 3,715,735.14).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im September diesen Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion Post-War to Present durch, in der auch die Arbeit DEC. 11, 1975, from Today, 1966-2013 von On Kawara zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 600.000,00 – 800.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 604.800,00 (€ 571.428,57) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von On Kawara auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (Decade) im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.175.000,00 (€ 3.715.735,14).
