Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May last year Christies in New York held the auction The Collection of Thomas and Doris Ammann Evening Sale, which included the work MAY 29, 1972, from Today, 1966–2013 by On Kawara. Here, the upper estimate of USD 800,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 819,000.00 (€ 763,209.39). Admittedly, works by On Kawara have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (Decade) in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 4,175,000.00 (€ 3,715,735.14).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion The Collection of Thomas and Doris Ammann Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit MAY 29, 1972, from Today, 1966–2013 von On Kawara zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 800.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 819.000,00 (€ 763.209,39) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von On Kawara auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (Decade) im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.175.000,00 (€ 3.715.735,14).
