Auction result well in line with expectations
In April last year Sothebys in Paris held the auction Contemporary Curated, which included the work I am still alive by On Kawara. The price achieved of EUR 5,040.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by On Kawara achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (Decade) in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 4,175,000.00 (€ 3,715,735.14).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in Paris die Auktion Contemporary Curated durch, in der auch die Arbeit I am still alive von On Kawara zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 5.040,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von On Kawara erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (Decade) im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.175.000,00 (€ 3.715.735,14).
