Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Composition by Lajos Kassák was sold in the Impressionist & Modern Art Works on Paper and Day Sale Morning including The Analytical Eye: The Branco Weiss Collection auction at Sothebys in London in June 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 26,261.53) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lajos Kassák - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Dinamika, which sold at auction in June this year for EUR 52,920.00.
