Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Cone Concealed A Blade by Julião Sarmento was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 31,250.00 (€ 25,274.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Julião Sarmento - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Emma 4, which sold at auction in February 2004 for GBP 50,190.00 (€ 74,936.04).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Cone Concealed A Blade von Julião Sarmento kam im Mai 2012 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 31.250,00 (€ 25.274,99) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Julião Sarmento mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Emma 4 beobachtet, die im Februar 2004 für GBP 50.190,00 (€ 74.936,04) versteigert wurde.
