This artwork by John Cage achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in October 2019. In the Evening & Day Editions auction, the work Variations II sold for USD 8,750.00 (€ 7,844.02) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Cage achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The First Meeting of the Satie Society in March 2011 with an auction result of USD 116,500.00 (€ 82,140.59).

Dieses Kunstwerk von John Cage erzielte im Oktober 2019 bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Evening & Day Editions wurde die Arbeit Variations II für USD 8.750,00 (€ 7.844,02) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 5.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Cage erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The First Meeting of the Satie Society im März 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 116.500,00 (€ 82.140,59).
