A top price for John Cage - as previously expected
The work The First Meeting of the Satie Society by John Cage was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2011. It changed hands for a price of USD 116,500.00 (€ 82,140.59) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 90,000.00 – 120,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The First Meeting of the Satie Society is the most expensive artwork by John Cage that we have observed at auctions so far.

Die Arbeit The First Meeting of the Satie Society von John Cage kam im März 2011 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 116.500,00 (€ 82.140,59) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 90.000,00 – 120.000,00. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist The First Meeting of the Satie Society das teuerste Kunstwerk von John Cage, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
