Upper estimate price exceeded by 42 %.
In April last year Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work 11 Stones by John Cage. The »bidding war« ended at USD 5,670.00 (€ 5,381.04), 42% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Cage achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The First Meeting of the Satie Society in March 2011 with an auction result of USD 116,500.00 (€ 82,140.59).
