Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Manx Red by Gordon House was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 117.50 (€ 189.90). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gordon House achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Diagonal Quarter Red Screen, 1960 in March 2015 with an auction result of GBP 4,000.00 (€ 5,530.21).
