Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Duane Hanson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in November 2011. In the Contemporary Art Day Auction auction, the work Baton Twirler sold for USD 182,500.00 (€ 135,657.47) - well above the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Duane Hanson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Cowboy, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 428,400.00 (€ 399,217.22).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Duane Hanson erzielte im November 2011 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction wurde die Arbeit Baton Twirler für USD 182.500,00 (€ 135.657,47) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 80.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Duane Hanson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Cowboy beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 428.400,00 (€ 399.217,22) versteigert wurde.
